APPLICATION DEADLINE

Friday 7 October 2011

No applications will be accepted after this date.

Grant Application Guidelines

Applications are invited for medical research grants to be awarded at the Foundation’s 28th Annual Dinner to be held 25th March 2012.

All grant applications must be submitted to the Foundation in portable document format attached to an email in a single PDF file.  Emails must be sent to david@rosenco.com.au.  Any application that is not submitted to the Foundation in this manner will be immediately discarded.

An application must be no more than four pages in length and must address each of the following requirements, failing which it will not be considered:

  1. The category of research; e.g. brain sciences, diabetes, geriatrics, lung diseases (other than cancer), rheumatology, vision sciences or genetic research.
  2. The project title.
  3. Details of the supervising institution and department, including name, mailing address, telephone number and contact email.
  4. Amount sought.
  5. Proposed use of funds.
  6. Chief investigator (attach C.V.)
  7. Details of any other investigators.
  8. Total cost of project.
  9. Whether the Foundation has granted an award in a previous year.  If so, provide a one page report with a summary of results achieved from your research to date and details of how the Foundation's grant has contributed to the research results.
  10. Aims of the project.
  11. Background research justifying the application.
  12. Details of financial support provided for the research from any other sources

The closing date of Friday, 7 October 2011, will be strictly policed and no applications will be received after this date.

The value of the individual grants is between $8,000 and $22,000 and is primarily for equipment related to research projects.

As your application will be scrutinised by both academic scientists specialising in various fields of medical research, as well as lay board members, it is in your interest to keep your application concise and apply a style that is as easy to read as is possible, notwithstanding the complexity of the research programme being described.

In order to qualify for further grants, successful applicants from previous years are required to forward a short, one page appraisal of their research progress, demonstrating the benefit of the award to their research.

Applicants are asked not to submit more than one application per year, nor should more than one of a group of researchers apply per year, for instance a group of four researchers putting in four applications, switching Chief Investigators.  This will NOT maximise your chances and may prejudice your application.

Grants will only be awarded in the fields notified; Brain Sciences, Diabetes, Geriatrics, Lung Disease (other than cancer), Rheumatology, Vision Sciences and the medical application of Genetic Research.  Please nominate in which category you are applying.
